le pronom ON
- The pronoun on means one, someone, everyone, people or they in a nonspecific sense:
examples: - Comme on dit... [As they say...] - On dit que ce film est intéressant. [They say that this film is interesting.] - On a trouvé mon portefeuille. [Someone found my wallet.] - On n'aime plus ce feuilleton. [People don't like this serial anymore.]
- On often replaces nous or vous in spoken French:
examples: - On y va? [Shall we go?] - Alors les enfants, que veut-on faire? [Ok, kids, what do you want to do?]
- On can also replace passive voice.
examples: - On parle français ici. [French is spoken here.] - On lui a dit de venir. [He was asked to come.] |
